The LIVER-Screen self-test is a simple finger-prick blood test that will tell you in 10 minutes whether key markers of liver damage or disease known as transaminase enzymes (ALT and AST) are raised (>80 IU/L)
There are different types of liver disease which may be related to being overweight, drinking too much alcohol, hepatitis or genetic reasons, but in the early stages there may not be any obvious symptoms.
To use your test, you will need to use the single-use finger pricker supplied to obtain a blood sample and apply to the lateral flow test cassette.
The test has greater than 89% agreement with clinical chemistry reference tests for ALT and AST.
Results in 10 minutes.
- one line means a negative result and levels of your transaminase enzymes are lower than the international cut-off
- two or three lines means a positive result. That is, a high level for one or more of the transaminase enzymes has been detected, and you should discuss your results with your doctor.
Always speak with your doctor if you have symptoms that concern you.
