Syphilis Test (1 Test)

SYPH-Check is a simple and confidential, 10 minute, finger-prick blood spot self-test that you use in the privacy of your own home to check whether you have been infected with syphilis. If you have been infected, symptoms may take three weeks or more to occur.

Symptoms of syphilis can include;

• one or more small sore like ulcers on your penis, vagina, or around your anus, which are usually painless
• sores in other areas, including in your mouth or on your lips, hands or bottom
• warty growths grey or white in colour that are most commonly found on your penis, vagina or around your anus
• a rash on the palms of your hands and soles of your feet that can sometimes spread all over your body – this is not usually itchy
• white patches in your mouth
• flu-like symptoms, such as a high temperature, headaches and tiredness
• swollen glands
• patchy hair loss on the head, beard and eyebrows

If you have any of these symptoms, you should make an appointment with your GP or sexual health clinic.

This test has been used for over fifteen years by healthcare professionals and has an overall agreement of 97% with laboratory reference methods.

The result is read from a lateral flow test device after 10 minutes.

- one line means that you have a negative result

- two lines means that you have a positive result and should make an appointment to see your GP
