The CALPROTECTIN ALERT self-test detects calprotectin in a faecal sample and is an indicator of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Results in 10 minutes.

To use your test, you will need to collect a poo sample and use a small sample to add to a lateral flow device that detects a biomarker known as faecal calprotectin.

- one line means a negative result

- two lines means a positive result

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is different to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The term inflammatory bowel disease is usually used to describe two conditions known as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, both of which are long-term conditions that involve inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract.

The symptoms of IBD may include one or more of;

  • swelling, pain or cramps in the tummy
  • recurring or bloody diarrhoea
  • weight loss
  • extreme tiredness

The CALPROTECTIN ALERT self-test has an overall agreement with laboratory tests of more than 95%.

If you have a positive result, speak with your doctor who will discuss your symptoms and decide whether further investigations are necessary.
